Achieving Reliable Home Safety is Easier Than You Think

Our property maintenance program will keep everything at home feeling fresh. Our tradesmen are equipped with the skills to ensure your doors function properly, shower bars are sturdy, handrails and flooring are secure, and all handy work is long lasting.  We compiled a list of easy to follow tips to prevent minor but common dangers at home. Happy National Safety Month, stay safe!

TIP #1 Prevent Slips!

Falls and slips are the most common for home accidents. Installing safety gates at the top and bottom of your stairs are important to reduce the chances of tumbling. Avoid slippery surfaces in the bathroom by placing rubber mats or towels on the floor as you step out of the shower. To avoid fractures for seniors, you can consider installing assisted safety devices. For help with installations give OneContact a call.

TIP #2 Check Smoke Detectors

Carbon monoxide detectors will alert you early when there are unsafe levels in your home. Test your detectors regularly and change the batteries twice a year to ensure they are functioning. It is also important to inspect your furnace and heaters annually. They can produce carbon monoxide! Call one of our experts at OneContact to make heater inspections part of your maintenance program plan.

TIP #3 Kitchen Safety

Whenever possible, use the back burners when cooking especially if there are children present at home. This will ensure that any hot objects are out of their reach. To avoid accidental tipping of pots and pans as you move throughout your kitchen, make sure that all handles face inwards on your stove. Your dishwasher washes your dishes using steamy, high temperature hot water. Make sure that the dishwasher is securely latched so that it does not open mid cycle.
