Mobile Building Operator & General Maintenance Technician

Job description:

OneContact IFS, a boutique facility-maintenance multi-trade company, is seeking an experienced, proactive, and customer-oriented Mobile Building Operator & Maintenance Technician to join our team. We require a highly productive, resourceful, and motivated individual with a “can-do attitude” to undertake a variety of building maintenance and repair tasks in a safe and consistent manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Respond to pre-approved work orders and to ensure their full and effective completion.
  • Visit properties as scheduled to perform site inspections, complete detailed checklists and promptly prepare site inspection reports.
  • Respond to maintenance-related emergencies with efficiency and confidence.
  • Help maintain all assigned buildings, suites, equipment and grounds.
  • Assist with obtaining pricing for various maintenance services, projects, supplies and equipment.
  • Purchase and maintain an inventory of general parts and supplies for building operations and projects.
  • Inspect fire, life, and safety systems; and inform facility manager as needed.
  • Ensure all utility and storage rooms are in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Provide input for the monthly reports to the Facility Manager on building inspections and work performed.
  • Carry out any other routine maintenance, general repair & handyman duties as required. For example: Faucet repair, drywall repair, painting, baseboards, ceiling tiles, furniture assembly, light switch & ballast replacement, locksmith, door repair, small appliances, etc. 

Essential Requirements:

  • At least five (5) years of proven building maintenance & repair experience.
  • Must have valid ABSA 5th class power engineering certificate.
  • Must possess strong building maintenance repair & handyman skills.
  • Keen ability to recognize problems and create an effective course of action to solve the issue.
  • Possess strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on building maintenance experience.
  • Possess preventative attitude and proactive communication.
  • Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision, as well as with a team.
  • • Punctual, highly organized and able to work under pressure.
  • Comfortable using computers, smartphones, tables and web-based applications.
  • Adhere to building codes and Health & Safety specifications; and follow client’s policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with dispatcher for assignments, and timely update our web-based work-order management system.
  • High level of energy, and be physically able to lift, push/pull and carry up to 60 lbs.
  • Strong English oral and written communication; and ability to follow instructions.

Other Requirements:

  • Transportation: Own reliable and appropriate vehicle.
  • Own hand and basic power tools, and smart phone.
  • Valid Alberta Drivers License with clean drivers abstract. No criminal record.
  • Must be willing and able to go on on-call list for occasional evening and weekend coverage, and attend to after-hour building emergencies.
  • A journeyman plumber certification is considered an asset.
  • An HVAC ticket is considered an asset. 

Terms and Conditions:

  • This is a permanent full-time position.
  • Compensation is competitive and based on level of real experience and skills. Group benefit plan available after probationary period.
  • Phone and car allowance.
  • Uniforms. 

You will be required to:

  • Provide three (3) work references.
  • Be bondable and pass Police/criminal background check before being hired. Police Information Check (PIC) and Vulnerable Sector Search will be required.
  • Write a behavioral position-fit test.
